Why we’re excited: Few games lived down to the hype quite like Diablo 3: from horrible server troubles plaguing early buyers to disappointing gameplay and trading mechanics, longtime fans of the series felt cheated, and boy were they vocal about it. Blizzard has heard their cries and, true to form, is releasing an expansion pack that amounts to one giant mea culpa. A new act, a new character class and new items are all to be expected — part of the standard Blizzard expansion pack fare — but the real test of this game will be in simple gameplay mechanics, particularly pertaining to items.
We’re confident that, with the right tweaking, Reaper of Souls should be able to do justice to Diablo I and II, the games that caused a generation of gamers to lose sleep and go without sunlight for weeks on end.
