WHY: The Boys & Girls Club of McAllen will officially break ground on the Center for Wellness & Opportunity, a transformational project that will redefine how youth and families access education, health, and opportunity in South McAllen.
For more than 60 years, the Boys & Girls Club of McAllen has been committed to enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Today, that legacy expands with a bold vision to meet the needs of the whole family, addressing health, education, and economic opportunity together, all under one roof.
The Center for Wellness & Opportunity will include a 37,000 sq. ft. clubhouse featuring academic and enrichment programs, arts and technology labs, and a full cafeteria and stage. Future phases will add a community wellness center with an after-hours clinic, food pantry, adult education classrooms, and an eight-court athletic complex that will serve over 1,200 youth weekly while driving sports tourism for the region.
This groundbreaking marks a defining moment in BGCM’s 60-year history and a powerful investment in the future of McAllen.
