BROWNSVILLE Valley Baptist Medical Center–Brownsville is hosting its fourth annual “Community Christmas” celebration and is inviting all Valley children, women, and men to join in on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Stillman Lobby, located at the main entrance of the hospital off Central Blvd. at W. Jefferson.

The free celebration will kick-off with the arrival of Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus, who will be available for pictures.  Every boy and girl that visits with Santa will receive a specially decorated Christmas candy cane — courtesy of the Valley Baptist-Brownsville Volunteer Auxiliary.  Santa will arrive on a fire engine.

Christmas carols will ring through the main entrance of the hospital as the UT-Brownsville Estudiantina “Azul Y Fuego” group performs holiday favorites. The celebration will also include the Garcia Middle School Band, Porter Prestige High School Choir, the Hanna High School “Take Note” all-girls choir, the Hanna “Sound Check” all-boys choir, and Hanna’s “Jive” mixed choir.  Master of ceremonies for the celebration will be State District Judge Migdalia Lopez.

“Our Community Christmas is a wonderful way to welcome the festive season side-by-side with the community we serve,” said Leslie G. Bingham, Chief Executive Officer at Valley Baptist Medical Center–Brownsville. “This is an opportunity for the whole family to celebrate Christmas and the traditions we enjoy here in Brownsville.”

Valley Baptist’s Administration team will treat everyone to freshly-baked Christmas cookies, hot chocolate, and punch.  There is no charge for the celebration and everyone is welcome.
