Edinburg, TX – On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the South Texas Health System celebrated the grand opening of its new chemical dependence unit in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The unit will be a 10-bed facility aimed at combating addiction in the Rio Grande Valley. It will be managed by a licensed chemical dependency counselor and is meant to help individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
The facility will offer detox “for opioids, benzos, and alcohol, including inpatient rehab for any substance abuse issue that any patient may have,” said Yvette Bueno, Director of Clinical Services for South Texas Health Systems.
With the problems of addiction and overdoses that this nation faces, this new facility demonstrates the ability of the Rio Grande Valley to make a difference in improving the lives of those affected by substance use disorders.
