Palm Valley Animal Center To Launch Tails Around Town, a foster field trip program

WHAT: Debut of a new dog foster program, Tails Around Town. To help save more shelter dog lives, improve the well-being of shelter dogs, and increase visibility of shelter dogs in our community. Our community members are invited to take a shelter dog out on a field trip for a couple of hours or a half-day. Activities include a neighbourhood stroll, a drive, trip to the beach, a movie at home, even a drink or meal on a pet-friendly patio. Whether you already have a dog, or you aren’t ready to have one, it’s a great way to get your dog fix.

WHY: Taking a dog out of the shelter environment, even for a short time, has been proven to help reduce kennel stress, provide dogs with enrichment, and make them more visible to the public and potential adopters. Outings also provide shelter adoption staff with valuable insight on how the dogs behave outside of a shelter environment to help them get adopted. And, it’s a great excuse to spend a day doing something new, exploring the RGV – it could even be a fun date. Plus, you’ll make a cute new furry friend!

HOW: Signing up is fast and easy. Anyone interested in the Tails Around Town program should simply e-mail foster@pvactx.org before March 10th. All participants will be given everything they need for a successful field trip.
