For Rosalio Espinoza, founder and patriarch of the business, the early days are still fresh in his memory.
“Materiales El Valle started with modest resources in 1986,” he said through a translator. “We began with $15,000, one office, one forklift, one storage space, and just two workers in those early days.”

“We want to serve the entire Valley with our products,” Espinoza said. “Our Palmview location serves La Joya, Roma, Zapata, and Laredo. Our Edinburg location serves McAllen, Mission, and Edinburg. Our Donna location serves Harlingen, Brownsville, and South Padre Island.”
The growth of Materiales El Valle has closely paralleled the population growth and construction boom throughout the Valley. While much of the region looks very different from what it did in 1986, the company’s work ethic has remained the same.
“Over the years, the Valley has grown tremendously,” he said. “I feel proud when I see that growth, and when I see many of my clients building beautiful homes. We are proud to offer the best materials to help bring those homes to life.”
That long-term success is reflected in the trust the company has built with its customers. Many contractors and developers return to Materiales El Valle for project after project. Homeowners do as well, often returning when they build or remodel additional homes.
Espinoza credits much of that success to his employees, whom he considers part of the family. In fact, many of them are family.
“First of all, as my children grew up, with their help and my wife’s support, we were able to expand while maintaining high quality,” he said. “Everyone contributes. They help create beautiful designs and source the best materials. We offer tile, block, brick, and everything needed to create beautiful spaces inside and outside a home.”

“It is important for me to be present in the store and work alongside my employees,” Espinoza said. “Each member of the family is assigned to a location. In Donna, my wife Ofelia and I manage the store. In Edinburg, my daughter Mayra and her husband oversee operations, while in Palmview, my son Jose and his wife manage the store. Family has been the foundation of our success, and we are all actively involved.”
