Mid-Valley Women’s Health and Surgical Arts of Weslaco is home to Obstetrics and Gynecology specialists Dr. Ellen Eye and Dr. Pablo Rivera.  The goal of their practice is to provide “the best possible care in a kind and caring office environment” in a compassionate manner while offering a range of services and procedures for the most comprehensive care for each of their patients.  What sets them apart is their approach to service.  Mid-Valley Women’s Health and Surgical Arts combines an obstetrics and gynecology practice with cosmetic surgery and services, the only clinic in the Rio Grande Valley currently doing so.
Drs. Eye and Rivera stay current on all facets of Obstetrics and Gynecology, catering to the needs of each mother and baby.  They provide first class pre-conceptional and prenatal care and are extensively knowledgeable when it comes to contraception, high risk pregnancies, pregnancy nutrition, gestational diabetes, labor, deliveries, cesarean sections, breastfeeding, and post-partum care.  The sought-after 4-D obstetrical ultrasound is available for expectant mothers.   Both Eye and Rivera are familiar with all elements of female reproduction, covering complete female care before and after the childbearing years.  Mid-Valley Women’s Health and Surgical Arts operates state-of-the-art equipment and performs a series of procedures that include well woman exams, Pap swear tests, mammograms, laparoscopic hysterectomies, colposcopies, cystoscopies, endometrial ablations, pelvic ultrasounds, sterilizations, vaccinations, surgery for stress urinary incontinence, treatment of pelvic pain, and the evaluation and treatment of infertility.  As part of their whole-health approach, Drs. Eye and Rivera also focus treatment on fitness, weight control, depression, quitting smoking, osteoporosis, and the transition into menopause.
As they see it, Dr. Eye and Dr. Rivera want women to be comfortable coming to them through all stages of life and for a variety of services as life changes bring new needs.  An expectant mother can have all of her prenatal needs met, right up through labor and delivery.  When her desire to get her pre-baby body back after having her children is at the forefront, cosmetic procedures are available to reach her goals.  As she ages, the need for overall well-woman care, mammograms, pap smears, and any desire for cosmetic enhancements can be handled all in one location by the doctors who have a full knowledge of her medical history.
Dr. Rivera is a fellowship-trained General Cosmetic Surgeon offering the top techniques in procedures and surgeries to help women look and feel their best.  He consults one-on-one and performs eyelid, face, forehead, breast, arm, and thigh lifts; chin, breast, and gluteal augmentation; ear and nose reshaping; liposuction, tummy tucks, and vaginal rejuvenation.  Additionally, he offers in-office procedures such as Botox injections, chemical peels, fat injections, and injectable fillers.
Dr. Ellen Eye is originally from Potosi, Missouri, where she graduated from high school as Valedictorian.  She attended Missouri University of Science and Technology, earning her Biological Sciences degree.  She received her doctoral degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2006.  Eye completed her residency and served as Chief Resident at the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Pablo Rivera was born in Douglas, Arizona, and grew up in Agua Prieta, Sonora in Mexico.  He earned his doctoral degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Cuidad Juarez.  He completed his medical internship and social service requirements in Mexico and went on to take the board exams to begin working within the United States’ medical training system.  Rivera trained in Family Medicine in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  He completed his residency and served as Chief Resident at the University of Oklahoma.  Rivera completed his General Cosmetic Surgery fellowship with the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery at the Arizona Centre of Plastic Surgery in Tucson.
Two young doctors with entrepreneurial spirits moved to the Valley together with the dream of opening a medical practice unlike anything this part of the South has seen before.
“We started with zero patients, but have quickly been growing as women from all over the Valley are starting to find out about us and what we offer.  We feel like we took a chance, especially in this economy, to put it all out there to go after our dream of owning our own practice, and – knock on wood – so far, so good,” Dr. Eye shares.
The goal they set out to achieve is one you can say has been accomplished.  For women focused on a true whole-health approach to living their best lives, Drs. Eye and Rivera are striving to bring the most comprehensive care to each patient who crosses their beautiful new threshold.  From the pre-baby years to the post-menopausal time of life, women’s health is at the core of Mid-Valley Women’s Health and Surgical Arts.
