More than 460 community members finished strong at the South Texas College (STC) Kinesiology Department’s 10th Annual Turkey Trot on Saturday, November 21, at the Pecan Campus Cooper Center in McAllen. In the last five years, Turkey Trotters have raised 8,000 pounds of food to help stock the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley’s (RGV) pantry. This year’s goal was to hit the 10,000 pound mark. Thanks to generous community members, the STC Kinesiology Department not only met their goal, but exceeded it with a total of 3,034 pounds of food donated to the Food Bank RGV. “We can’t thank the community enough for making our 10th Annual Turkey Trot such a success,” said Dr. Rebecca De Los Santos, chair of the Kinesiology Department at STC. “For ten years, we have grown our Turkey Trot and will continue supporting the Food Bank RGV’s efforts while also raising awareness for health and fitness in our community.” For more information contact STC’s Kinesiology Department at 956-872-3707. |
