Texas Insurance Service Center Inc is an independent, full service agency, representing numerous financially sound companies and specializing in all lines of insurance.  Everything from automobile, to medical insurance can be obtained at TISC with trained insurance specialists for each line of coverage.  The clients vary from large companies to first time homeowners.  Originally founded in 1917 under the name Hamilton Insurance Agency the company has changed ownership and names numerous times over the past ninety-five years.  In 1999 Mr. Arnie Olivarez acquired full ownership; the dedicated family man was committed to making the company a family business.

TISC is currently owned by sisters Dayna Olivarez and Amanda Olivarez-Salinas, as well as Amanda’s husband, Albert Salinas, representing the first time in the company’s history that the company is owned by women. Despite its establishment nearly a century ago, the Olivarez and Salinas family insists that not much has changed, “serving our customers, offering the best price and protection, that service has always been there” proving that the secret to longevity is steadfast integrity.

After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Dayna Olivarez made a decision to return to the Rio Grande Valley to work in the family business.  Insurance is a competitive industry but despite this TISC has managed to remain both successful and personal, “We’re a family business and very grateful to the community for being able to keep our doors open” explains Olivarez. In 2008 Mr. Olivarez officially retired, and the agency was purchased by Dayna, Amanda and her husband Albert Salinas, both of whom graduated from Harlingen High School and attended Texas State Technical College.  While some people may hesitate venturing into business with family, the Olivarez and Salinas families wouldn’t have it any other way, pointing out that even if you’re not family issues will undoubtedly still arise, while a strong family foundation surpasses any potential conflict.

As a full service agency the task of keeping up to date with federal regulations is of upmost importance. “It’s a waiting game, in a constantly changing industry” describes Salinas. Fortunately TISC employs and relies on an exceptional staff each with a minimum of ten years experience and some which have been with the company for much longer.

In today’s world where insurance can be acquired through a 1-800 number or website, TISC stands in stark contrast.  What is traditionally a very impersonal business is made personal by the Olivarez and Salinas family.  “They’re not just customers they’re people, you build relationships with them all the time, and those relationships are important.” stresses Olivarez-Salinas, a reality that is made all the more evident when tragedy strikes.

Recognizing the importance of giving back to the community, the Olivarez and Salinas family is heavily involved in local organizations.  Dayna Olivarez currently serves as Chairman for the Harlingen Industrial Foundation, and has served on the Harlingen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board as well as the Board for Harlingen Proud. Meanwhile Albert Salinas serves as a Board Member for Harlingen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and is currently on the Harlingen Economic Development Sports and Entertainment Committee.  Despite their tireless commitment to work, family and community, the Olivarez and Salinas family continue to envision big things for Texas Insurance Service Center Inc. “We’d like to grow and open offices throughout and outside the Rio Grande Valley!” exclaims Salinas.
