The Reese, a part of Harlingen history, has undergone extensive renovations and is ready for its grand debut.

Launched in 1925 as a 65 room hotel and most recently used by the Harlingen Housing Authority to provide housing to the elderly, The Reese is located at 202 So. First Street in downtown Harlingen.  As the project rolls out over the next few months, The Reese will be a unique multi-use residential and commercial real estate development.

The property, which has 73,000 square feet, is a 5 story building.  As it is currently planned the first floor of the building will be restaurant and retail space.  The second floor will be office and commercial, while the third and fourth floors will be luxury condominiums. The fifth floor will be a large full-service event center.

Colletti’s restaurant will open in the next few weeks, offering a gourmet menu of Italian food options for lunch and dinner service.  The restaurant has a bar,  table seating, an open pizza oven and one of the largest kitchens in Harlingen.

Retail and service options on the first floor abound.  Premium commercial spaces, built to suit, are currently being offered at standard lease  rates on a triple net lease.  Some businesses that have been attracted to the space vary from upscale contemporary gift retailers and general service companies.

The office space on the second floor is set to attract a wide variety of uses.  This space is also being offered on a finish to suit basis, ensuring that the high quality of the renovation is mirrored in the public business space.

Current plans for the condominiums include 12-19 units.  The first units being constructed boast 2500 square feet and will have 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a spacious kitchen, a large office and a flowing urban design.  The goal of the condominiums is to provide turn-key living with minimum maintenance.  Under consideration, is the construction of 1 bedroom premium lofts, as well.  Demand for the condominiums is coming from local areas and as far away as San Antonio and Monterrey.

The two bedroom unit is estimated to sell for about $369,000, but final costs will be based on buyer selections.  The condominiums will have private access to the residential area of the building.  A current list of all amenities to be offered with the condominiums is still in development.  Some of the offerings to residents are slated to include covered parking, doorman access, and premium security.

The fifth floor event center has already started booking events, from weddings to reunions.  The event center will have banquet service, dining area, a stage, and dance and entertainment areas.  The view from the top floor event center is set to be an extraordinary feature of the The Reese.
